Do you know how porcelain tiles are made?

Porcelain Tiles, Tile Manufacture, Italian Tiles

What is a porcelain tile?

First of all, porcelain tiles are made from clay, however, a much denser clay is used than the clay for ceramic tiles. Furthermore, porcelain tiles can be either glazed or full-bodied and are heated to a much higher temperature than ceramic tiles. A glazed tile has a front surface which has been enhanced by glazing whereas a full-bodied tile has a surface colour which is the same all the way through the tile. The design of a porcelain tile is created by refining natural clays and mixing those with natural pigments.

Due to the following benefits, the team at Inter Ceramica are strong supporters of the porcelain tile.

  • Highly resistant to wear and completely non-porous
  • Safe to use on floors, walls and even outdoors
  • Low maintenance
  • Available in a wide range of styles, colours and appearances.
  • Highly durable, even frost proof
  • Works exceptionally well with underfloor heating

Over many years, Inter Ceramica has developed knowledge, kept up to date with trends and have selected only the best Italian porcelain tiles for you.
